Gentle Yoga for Release, Recovery, and Resilience

4 Sunday Nights--October 30, November 6, 13 & 20

5:30-7:00 p.m.    Longview Yoga Studio    

Cost:  $50

In this four-week class, we will consider how "seasonal transitions" provide a wonderful opportunity to pay attention, make choices, and develop practices that will optimize health, strength, and vitality.  

Just as there are seasons of the year and seasons of our lives, most people experience fluctuations in physical, emotional, and spiritual energy.  These seasonal cycles may be related to a major life changing event or may seem to have an unknown cause.  Whatever the cause, many of us are facing some kind of life transition much of the time! 

The simple practices taught in this class (yoga postures, breathing, and reflection) are designed to encourage balance, focus, and flexibility.  In our bodies, in our spirits, in our minds, we can develop habits of moving through life transitions with strength, grace, and authenticity.

Each 90 minute class will consist of basic standing postures, prop-supported restorative postures, and simple breathing exercises to release tight muscles, promote recovery from injury, and increase mobility.  We recommend wearing athletic clothing that allows comfortable movement. Students are welcome to bring writing notebooks to record thoughts or questions.

Season of the Spirit is appropriate for adults of all ages and fitness levels.  No previous yoga experience is necessary.

Vicki Johnson has been a student of yoga since 1997 and has just completed her first 200-hour teacher training.  She moved to Longview in 2015 and has recently retired from 30 years as a United Methodist pastor.  Vicki is also a trained life coach and spiritual director.
